Guatemala

I have visited Guatemala twice, 25 years in between. But I don’t think I will come back for a third time though: it’s chaotic, much more touristy than its Central American neighbours and good food is hard to find. Its strengths lie in the Highland regions and the Mayan ruins such as Quirigua and the classic Tikal.

2022 (March): 2 weeks on public transport, along Antigua, Quetzaltenango, Rio Dulce and Tikal.

1997 (October): 1.5 week on a group tour, including Antigua, Guatemala City, Tikal, San Cristobal de las Casas and Panajachel.
